Atom can answer employee questions with knowledge learned from configured public Slack channels where the Atom is a member. Admins choose the Slack channel and the trusted users or user segments whose messages Atom should learn from. After a Slack channel is configured, Atom ingests messages from the selected users going back 12 months from the configuration date. After that, Atom re-syncs every 24 hours from the last successful sync point.
Note: Atom learns from text-based Slack messages and threaded conversations only. It does not learn from attachments, files, or other media shared in Slack messages.
Atom cites answers back to the corresponding Slack message.
Messages from users who are not included in the configuration are ignored.
Private Slack channels and DMs are not supported.
Bot messages and system messages, like about people joining or leaving, are filtered out.
Setting up learning from Slack
Go to Settings > Assistant > Learn from Slack channels.
Select a channel: Choose a public Slack channel where Atom has been added. If a channel does not appear in the list, add Atom to that channel first.
Select users to learn from: Choose the specific users or user segments whose messages Atom should learn from. The available user list is scoped to members of the selected Slack channel.
Select the audience: Choose the employee segment that can receive answers sourced from the selected Slack channel, if an audience restriction is needed.
Audience segmentation controls which employee segments can receive answers learned from a configured Slack channel. Users in the selected segment can receive those answers even if they are not members of the original Slack channel.
Review sync status
The settings page displays the sync status for each configured Slack channel:
Pending / In Progress: A sync is currently running.
Success: The last sync completed successfully.
Partial: Some messages synced, but there were issues.
Failed: The sync failed. A user-facing error is shown when available, such as Atom not being a member of the selected channel.
Points to note
No access control on learned answers: Atom doesn't currently restrict answers by channel membership, so any employee can receive content sourced from a learned channel even if they're not a member of it.
No manual review of learned content: Admins currently can't review or remove individual pieces of content Atom has learned from a channel.
