Microsoft Teams journey actions

Using journeys, HR, IT, and other teams can maintain a checklist of tasks, communication, and automated actions around key employee moments like onboarding, offboarding, promotions, learning, or compliance in one place.

When configuring a journey like onboarding, offboarding, or compliance, you can set up Teams actions to automatically perform these operations instead of having to note them down on your to-do list and perform them yourself every time. For example, you could set up an onboarding journey to notify the payroll team to add the new hire, the manager to assign them a buddy, and so on.

Add Teams actions to a journey

  • Go to Settings > Journey templates > Journey > Stage > + Add action > Teams

  • Add members to a team. Choose the team and the employee you want to add. You can use a dynamic placeholder to specify employees related to the journey assignee.

  • Create a private channel. Choose the team, and enter the channel name, channel description, owners, and members of the channel

  • Create a shared channel. Choose the team, and enter the channel name, description, owner, and members of the channel

  • Create a standard channel. Choose the team and enter the channel name and description

  • Post to a channel. Choose the team, and the channel name and enter the message. The Assistant can only post to standard channels that it's a part of.

  • Send a DM. Choose the message recipients and enter the message.
